This edition print with an edition of only 10 copies is an excerpt from Florian Merdes artist’s book “Steamcracker”—in which he explores the identity of the German industrial and chemical city of Ludwigshafen through photography. In numerous abstract close-ups, he portrays the city’s undefined state of limbo and sketches the arbitrariness of the place in his book in a random sequence of precise observations. The photographer and artist Florian Merdes, *1989, studied communication design in Mannheim and photography in Joachim Brohm’s class at the HGB Leipzig. In 2022, he completed his studies in the class of Stephanie Kiwitt at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in Halle. His projects have been supported by a scholarship from the Free State of Saxony, among others, and his work is represented in the permanent collection of Bank Tirol/Vorarlberg.
